The 2nd Amendment has been a big topic of discussion, recently -so much so that you’re probably sick of hearing about it, at this point. But, this is an important subject to follow because there’s a lot at stake, here, and many people misunderstand the right to bear arms and the part of our constitution that protects it. I’ve been writing about this subject quite a bit and have touched on several parts of this issue, but I want to take a minute to look at the 2nd Amendment: what it says, where it came from, and why it’s so important.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Every time someone tells me that we have a social contract to uphold or that we need government to prevent chaos from occurring I cannot help but laugh.

It is a direct result of government and its bedfellow, organized religion, that we as a species have suffered numerous calamities. Historically government has been the chief factor behind every major war and every holocaust.

From the earliest written history of the world we see the result of government, not advancement, not a bolstering of individuals and humanity as a whole, but war, chaos and death. Egypt enslaved the Hebrew race and others to build their monuments to their Pharaohs and leaders. Greece, Persia (Iran), Rome, Spain, Germany, France, England, Holland, Portugal, Russia, China and every state on the planet…
